Day 6- Belmonte
The Pousada Convento de Belmonte used to be a convent and they have incorporated the new into the old really nicely. All the rooms are named after friars (?) and there are some ruins from a really old part of the building which are interesting.
We drove into the village of Belmonte and before we could find parking, we were face-to-face with a parade coming right at us! We had no idea what they were celebrating, but got out of the way quickly! lol
There was a castle to explore and the Jewish Quarter, lots of flowers- and these incredible flowering trees! If I can find one here (first I have to find out what it was) I will be planting one or two, they are covered in these little yellow flowers and the smell is just divine!
Tonight's dinner was the best we have had since our first night. I will fill in all the food stuff the next go around... lol
